Every time I turned the page, I thought--is the author really going to go there? And then she did.I'm adding it to my list of all-time favorite books. Not because I liked it--I'm still not sure whether I did. It's inherently an unlikeable novel, populated by vicious and unsympathetic children. But it made me think.
